There is a tussle between AAP and the Center over Delhi’s liquor policy. Manish Sisodia was seen surrounding the former LG regarding the new liquor policy. He said in a press conference that how Delhi’s new excise policy 2021-22 benefitted some people by preventing them from being implemented properly. I have complained about this to CBI. In the new excise policy which was passed in May 2021, it was decided that there would be equal number of liquor shops in every area, whereas earlier there were up to 20 shops at one place, while in some places there were not at all.

Manish Sisodia said that the new excise policy went to the then LG sir, he read it very carefully, in this policy it was clearly written that the current cannot be more than 849. There will be shops equally in every area across Delhi. There will also be shops in unauthorized colonies. The LG sahib approved it after reading it completely. The policy was approved by the LG sahib, no objection was raised. When the file to open the shops reached the LG sahib, he changed his stand in the LG office.

In the first week of November, the proposal to open shops reached the LG sahib. In November, he made a new condition that the approval of DDA, MCD would have to be taken to open a shop in an unauthorized colony.

With this, Manish Sisodia said that while this was not the case earlier, approval was needed from LG House. Because of this, the licensees suffered a lot. Many were hurt because LG sahib changed the decision. After this the license holders reached the court because their shop could not open while some shopkeepers got a lot of benefit because many shops did not open. The government lost thousands of crores of rupees due to changing the stand of LG. The decision was changed 48 hours ago. I think about 300 to 350 shops could not open due to changing the stand of LG.
